I've had anxiety chest pains for about as long as I can remember. They seem to flare up either when I get too high on the wrong strain of cannabis, or if I am experiencing sleep deprivation.

I'm suffering from the latter on this road trip (10 hour night drive, caffeine pills, forced wakefulness), and holy hell, this hurts.

Sometimes I get scared I'm going to die from it.

It seems that anxiety-related attacks (specifically palpitations) generally can't kill you though?

It's uncomfortable and freaks me out, but it's not exactly a new problem.

@deadsuperhero Some anxiety triggered stuff can definitely kill you (I've come pretty close a few times). Most of that is controllable if you can afford the meds (depending on the condition ranges from pretty cheap to a multiple of my mortgage), though in my case it's cheaper/more effective/more fun to make sure I can take a vacation to de-stress before things get too bad (I'm not your doctor and that's not medical advice, just what works to keep me from bleeding out).

@neal yeah, the weird thing about the anxiety is that it's entirely self-referential, eg, feeling an uncomfortable sensation coming on and attributing meaning to explain it, which exacerbates both the anxiety and the sensation.

I have a weird habit where I either cross my arms or pull on the midsection of my shirt to tighten the fabric in a way that distracts me from the sensation. I think it might be mostly psychological.
