USPS claims to have delivered 4 of 6 boxes of Roasting Styles Exploration Kit that got mailed. One had a failed delivery attempt and the other is going to Canada and will take a while because of that. Shop's web site is updated with a new coffee from Brazil and removal of a coffee from Peru which I can't roast any more of (some is still available in shop).
@gnomon I think most of the delay was getting the box out of Chicago. Tracking says it's in Toronto now so hopefully that gets delivered soon.
@gnomon I hope you enjoy them.
@neal thank you again for putting this together and sending it out. Can't wait to dive into it! That'll probably be a tomorrow morning kind of thing though.
@gnomon Fun fact: the colors on the labels match the colors in the final graph.
@neal I'm only one proper round of critical tasting in so far (municipal water, not Third Wave Water yet; cf. https://www.toronto.ca/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/8fd4-Drinking-Water-Analysis-2018-AODA.pdf ← https://www.toronto.ca/services-payments/water-environment/tap-water-in-toronto/tap-water-quality-system-reports/ ← https://www.toronto.ca/services-payments/water-environment/tap-water-in-toronto/ for baseline TDS in aggregate)
Brewed as low-ratio Aeropress as I usually do in the mornings rather than following cupping protocol because I suck at that.
I really like the flavour of the light roast, and your notes for the aroma of the dark are *spot on*.
Going back in for pourover soon!
@gnomon They're intended as production roasts. It's odd that coffee people have wanted to put them on a cupping table at all.
@neal thank you for making me feel better about skipping that method entirely. 😄
(I've got a trick epiglottis that often doesn't seal properly; hereditary. Slurping is a high percentage way to end up with a lung full of liquid and a coughing fit. Super awkward.)
@gnomon The most important part of cupping is getting the coffee into your mouth. The importance of the slurp is over rated.

Postage takes ages in Canada
So many long roads in Canada
They'll get it here when they can (-ada)
Then I'll brew coffee in Canada!
