it's just been a whole series of watching people have tech issues this morning

literally every one of these graphs is a crime against mathematics

@Satsuma Part of me wants to see an example and part of me very much does not want that.

@neal online learning software uses randomly generated numbers to fill out the equations (ostensibly to prevent cheating but wolfram alpha’s been able to tell you the derivative of an arbitrary equation for years so not really sure what the point is?)

So then the graphs are *also* autogenerated and they’ll do shit like have a tick mark every 1.2 units

@Satsuma *sigh* I've written code intended to avoid exactly that problem. (So have lots of other people so it's not like there aren't tons of examples of how to choose graph ticks that don't do that if anybody bothered to look.)

@neal yeah the fact that it’s such a boring, easily solvable problem is definitely a large part of why i find the whole thing so frustrating

Like, if they were *interestingly* had at least i could have distracted myself trying to figure out what had happened haha
