@gnomon I don't know what you're using, but if it's any consolation, most home machines are a lot harder to use for that compared with commercial machines. Generally underpowered and then a lot of them also have an attachment that adds another tube going back up that I honestly wish they'd cost optimize out because I've never seen a machine that doesn't work better if you take that off and pretend it doesn't exist.
@neal I'm doing it on extra-hard mode: for espresso machines I have the Flair Pro 2, an Espressoforge, and a Portaspresso. They're all no-boiler models. For steaming I have a Bellman 50SS, and an electric coil stovetop - worst of all possible worlds. It _works_, and someone with skill could probably do a passable job with it, but it's rough.
