got our #lispgamejam entry coming together a lot faster than previous ones did; it's feeling pretty solid and this is just day 3

tryin to come up with a rudimentary story that would fit this setting

maybe you're breaking in too jeff bezos's secret personal warehouse to ... wipe out his NFTs? or ... vandalize his secret stash of funko pops? sabotage the plumbing so his mansion floods?

playing lode runner for NES for inspiration, and wow, this is a lot worse than my memories of the apple ][ version.

it's mostly fun but the scrolling is incredibly bad; it doesn't center the player on the screen so you can run right into an enemy and not see it until the last split-second before he's on top of you. (it wouldn't nearly as bad if it wasn't so clear to me how easy it would have been to write better scrolling.)

kinda fun to read that this game was released literally the year I was born tho

also I gotta hand it to the cover artist here, that sweater is amazing and I love how his hand reaches around the frame of the picture.

4 days into #lispgamejam and I think I'm almost done coding at 365 lines

still need a lot more level design tho

@neal wow, that's an obscure reference I didn't expect to hear!

my memory of Spacestation Pheta (I played a lot in elementary school) was that of being a straight up Lode Runner clone but looking more closely at it now it's a lot more complexity that wasn't present in Lode Runner.

@technomancy Plus the jump sound effect was just a recording of someone saying "jump"
