Notes on Typica 1.9.1rc1 sent out to the release mailing list: https://tinyletter.com/Typica/letters/typica-1-9-1rc1 and posted to the blog https://typica.us/typica/2018/07/09/typica-1-9-1rc1.html
Personally, I want to see better tools regardless of whether I'm writing them and I want to see these tools used to their full potential in helping coffee roasters better understand what they're doing and help them roast coffee in a way that's consistent and in a way where they're getting the results they want in the cup. When software makers introduce features that work against these goals, that can cause a lot of harm to the industry.
The cloudy competitors to Typica that some people are foolish enough to spend thousands of dollars per year on should at least hire me as a consultant to explain which feature requests are useful and which promote poor coffee roasting practices. One of them announced a big list of new features that's heavy on the latter category.
@ChrisTalleras@mastodon.art Library of Congress has a lot of public domain material. https://www.loc.gov/free-to-use/ Other sections of the site like the map room also have a lot of good material available.
Now playing そらをとぶゆめ / DREAMS OF FLYERS (2A03 VERSION)
You can find it hiding somewhere on http://rumia.hungry.jp/
3 more Yoiyami Dreamer vids transcoding now. Wriggle Nightbug's route. I might go back to show the differences in Cirno and Mystia's routes. A Nintendo Switch port of this game was recently announced but I doubt a US release is coming any time soon.
Given that the story is told primarily through pictures and gestures I wouldn't worry about a language barrier if you enjoy these sorts of games.
question for tumblr users
@chr@cybre.space I mostly interact with tumblr through the closest thing they still have to tracked tags (appending /tagged/whatever-tag in the address bar). I don't know why tumblr leadership found tracked tags so offensive, but they tried to kill the feature off a few times and it's considerably less useful/discoverable now than it once was.
Tweaked some settings on https://code.typica.us so ssh clones should work and anybody should be able to create an account to do things like open/comment on issues, work on their own forks of Typica, but not create new repos. Hopefully nobody will abuse that and I can keep it open rather than making people who want to contribute jump through the extra hoop of having me set up an account for them.
https://video.typica.us is likely to stay mostly coffee related, but I've got a couple non-coffee channels in there as well.
