@Taweret@octodon.social Fine motor skill development?

Jake Sisko has really good penmanship for someone who supposedly never used paper.

I'm thinking of going with 50% Kenya, 50% Sumatra, pre-blended and using a roasting plan quite different from either of the components. The press I'm drinking now tastes pretty good, but that's on approximately 0 rest so I want to taste how it does as drip tomorrow.

I'm usually in the blend after roasting camp but for the seasonal blend I'm working on now I think I need to switch to blend before roasting. Any time you're not using stock roasts it's worth looking in that direction to keep the logistics sane.

@cwebber@octodon.social With as much turnover as this administration has had, how would we even tell?

The cat didn't come to bed with me last night, which is unusual. Maybe she doesn't like the new sheets I put on? When I left for work today she was sitting on the heat vent in the kitchen (I turned the heat up because the bedroom was a little too cold) so it could be a warmth thing as well. She rarely wants to get under the blankets.

Looked at the report for how my city voted and it's kind of all over the place (not uncommon for Wisconsin), though apparently we can all agree that federal policy on pot is wrong. I've no personal interest in the stuff, but there's plenty of evidence that it shouldn't be schedule 1, that it's less harmful than lots of stuff that's legal for recreational use, and that the war on drugs has had a massively negative impact on society and needs to be rolled back.

I don't think I've ever had a number as high as today's when I went to vote. On the one hand, it's great to see people actually carrying out their civic responsibility. On the other hand there were more people trying to help me get to the right place and I'm just like, I go there, same as I do every election.

Roaster repairs are in progress now. He's actually doing more of the job than I expected, which is great because my hands are already sort of ripped up from taking things apart earlier.

OH: "Well, so far the infinite monkey theorem is just giving us an infinite number of JavaScript frameworks, and no Shakespeare"

Now I kind of want to play a magical girl game where all your attacks are "healing" skills. Did anyone ever do a video game spin off of Nurse Angel Ririka SOS?

@cwebber@octodon.social Yeah, it's a case of, this almost never works but when it does it works really well.

@cwebber@octodon.social I don't think so. For multi-player it'd probably only make sense if you've got undead classes for players to choose.

@cwebber@octodon.social Yet oddly it isn't always. For example, it's definitely the easiest way to go in Final Fantasy Mystic Quest (not that I'm holding that up as an example of good game design). The hard part is thinking that it might work and having the courage to unleash your inner magical girl.

@cwebber@octodon.social What does this say about games where you can heal the final boss to death?

Have been showing lots of people my travel photos. These are mainly pictures of dogs and cats that I met/pet. This is my life sidequest: travel the world petting all the fluffy animals.

Obviously you should caption images to help people with visual impairments, but here's some other reasons to do it:

⭐ If the site doesn't load properly an alt text description might make people interested enough to check it out later.

⭐ If you took a screenshot of text, it might not be readable on different devices depending on image format.

⭐ Writing descriptions forces you to think critically: what is important? If you struggle with promoting yourself/your art, this is low risk training!

Plumber thinks he has exactly what's needed to just replace the pipe and will stop in first thing in the morning to look at that. Hopefully we can get that back up and running. It's good to have people with useful skills as customers.

Replacement roaster part arrived but when I tried removing the old one I found something that's beyond what I should be handling myself. After a consult with the manufacturer we both agreed that I should call a gas technician to look at that. They suggested that I refer to it as a "gas fired appliance" since nobody knows what a "coffee roaster" is, but I called the guy who did the gas install on my little roaster (also a regular customer).

It feels like the world is vibrating around me. That can't be good.
