The coffee plant failed to grow this seed right. Found after roasting.

From a friend:

"IBM has implemented a no-handshake policy for the month of March, so please remember that with the Vulcan salute, "Live long and prosper" is technically the _response_ to the phrase "Peace, and long life." This is our chance, nerds."

Got a followup letter from Nielsen a while back claiming they tried but failed at calling me for their survey. What this tells me is that whoever they bought my info from has the wrong number. I'm fine with that and see no need to go out of my way to correct their information.

@taweret There's a dragon-like monster under the city of Racine that lives in an underground cavern which lets out into Lake Michigan (it can extend its head out into the lake from there with its very long neck). I forget its name but it's responsible for raising and lowering the level of water in the lake.

Figured out a new recipe for Breakfast Blend today. It's using more expensive coffees (new blend combines coffees from Sulawesi, Guatemala, Sumatra, and Ethiopia) so I'm going to need to increase the price, but any orders that come in before I update the web site will get the new blend at the old price. Fediverse is the only place getting that announcement.

Paper documentation of the new publishing company's registration for tax purposes arrived in the mail today. It looks like I could legally start selling in Wisconsin immediately if the product were ready. Sadly, it is not. I still have a few todos to slam out on chapter 5 and rather than a glossary of terms I'd like to put in an "Explanation of Terms" chapter, which lets the section on each term provide more educational value.

@debugninja@banana.dog Most places that think they want full stack really need full heap. That's the ticket.

The cat has decided that it is time for her to get belly rubs.

The event I'm teaching at in April is instituting more hygienic practices for tasting in all classes because of you know what. Personally I think that should be the norm at these events even when there isn't a major disease concern because the minor disease concerns should also be taken seriously.

If some day you call my business and find that the phone is answered by a robot, it'll be because of something like this.

Credit card processing companies are getting more aggressive in their cold calling lately, but I get multiple such calls every single day. That level of attempt to waste my time only ensures that they will never get my business. (best way to sell me on your service is to send enough information to make an informed decision on paper sent through the mail and never call me)

@neal that's true. midichlorians ARE the warp core of the cell :think_shark:

@taweret It's most likely with dead and decaying bodies (mold growth can generate a surprising amount of heat), but living bodies have so many active mitochondria (the warp core of the cell) and you never know what they're getting up to.

Fortune cookie says international travel is in my future. I'm on my third passport so I guess that checks out.

Wrote a new section for chapter 5 that I noticed was missing. It's the touchstone that connects everything back to what I was writing about in chapter 1.

The down side of Bloomberg dropping out is his campaign people spent a lot of money on drinks in my shop. Tipped generously, too.
