Turns out the new laptop is missing the retaining screw for the unpopulated SSD slot. Was able to migrate the system install to one replacement drive, but I can't install the other drive until I get a screw. Original drive moved to an enclosure so I can still use that if needed.

Today I spent about $20K on coffee. Coffee is expensive right now so I'm going to have to charge a lot for it.

AP: How many Thanksgiving groceries can you buy with $100? Me: More than 9 if you're not shopping at the $10.99 store. (Also, who are these weirdos who even think to wash the turkey? Pretty sure that's fake news.)

Complaining about the lack of tracking number was apparently enough to summon a delivery driver with my package. I'll have to wait to do anything with that until after work. Still have coffee to roast and orders to ship.

The last of the upgrades for my next laptop have been delivered. I decided that I liked recent SSD sale prices enough to go ahead and fill both slots. The laptop this stuff is going into has allegedly shipped, but I still don't have a tracking number.

The cat thinks I'm sitting on something good that she wants, but I'm not.

I prefer my program code to be as unmagical as possible because I don't put trust in wizards who I hear are subtle and quick to anger.

Found a problem, identified a solution, decided that the solution seemed a bit too magical, found a less magical solution that I feel more confident in.

The cat gave me lots of head pats this morning.

@Taweret Even bigger than the big bird that followed me around Amsterdam that my sister doesn't think was real.

Fresh supply of glue acquired; applied to things set aside in need of glue.

96GB of laptop RAM got delivered today. Still waiting for the machine I'll pop that in to.

@Taweret Everybody except the players in that one cartoon version that apparently chronicled attempts by the worst gamers to ever play the game.

Did some sample roasting so I'll have stuff that people want to try to sell me to taste tomorrow.

End result will be something with more RAM, more storage, similar performance (maybe a little better for some of my uses, maybe a little worse for others), but much lower power consumption so it should be nicer as a travel machine.

Laptop upgrades are on the way. My current one draws too much power to charge on an airplane and is physically falling apart so I've picked out a new machine that's easy for me to upgrade myself. I can get higher spec parts than the manufacturer offers in RAM and SSD for half the price as if I let them pre-install to the same capacities.
