And I'm back. Forgot to silence my phone and I decided not to do a retake over that so there might be one notification sound from that in the background of the next video. Boops while I edit are okay so it's fine to keep boosting my cat.

@Taweret @neal I wonder if any of the (mostly white) dudes who took power after revolutions ever accidentally quipped about the good old days when the last regime was in power. Like, did Jefferson ever wax nostalgic for the good old days which would have been under King George or Castro for when Batista was in power?

Going to do some recording. Logging off so cat pic boosts won't boop at me during that.

@Taweret@octodon.social Someone should trace the moral decay of the youth as told by old folks and figure out why we're not all having drug fueled orgies and murder fests right now.

Picard out-lawyering the xenophobic space lawyers to get an extension on a colony evacuation is some next gen as hell star trek

@Taweret@octodon.social Some of the earliest known writings are old people complaining about kids these days and their newfangled whatever making the world scary. You'd think humanity would learn that they've always been full of shit, but this appears to be a timeless trope with no cultural barriers.

@cardassianvole My shop is a weird combination. Some things we're very no-tech on and other things we're literally inventing the future.

@cardassianvole Coffee association stuff. I'm going to stop working on curriculum development because the direction association leadership is taking on education is wrong.

Still no official response to the letter I sent a while back so it looks like tomorrow I'll be taking my ball and finding a park that doesn't want an obscene entry fee.

@cardassianvole I try to automate it as much as possible so it's not so bad anymore.

Also tasting some new lots of coffee. My first attempts at the latest lot from Costa Rica were good but not good enough. For the dark roast I decided that I needed to push that a little bit darker and my 2nd attempt was much better. For the medium roast I had the roast level right but needed to roast the coffee slower to improve body and balance. Again, 2nd attempt was right where I wanted it. There's also a new lot from Brazil that I want to taste while I write the label.

Typica (free software I wrote to make various parts of running a coffee roasting operation easier) makes that part of my job a lot easier because the inventory is tracked all the time and I just need to sanity check the report it spits out. It was a lot harder when I needed to dig through contracts and invoices and the results are more accurate than the estimates that I was making before.

OK so, I think maybe I've figured out why other women are scared to travel solo. They post things like "How do you get brave enough to get out there and meet new people and make new friends while traveling solo?"

LOL WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO MEET NEW FRIENDS. You're traveling SOLO. Be ALONE! Why would you travel solo just so you would have to put up with people somewhere else?!

Enough people were willing to work New Year's Day so my shop is doing its usual start of the year charity event for the 24th consecutive year. All drink sales on January 1 will be donated to Racine County Food Bank. Additional cash donations will also be accepted and there's also a food collection box (though really, all the grocery stores have these so there probably won't be much in that).

Non-removable batteries is a serious contender for the dumbest idea in electronics product design.
