Asking people to pay money to do work is seriously messed up.

Registered for the event that I'm teaching at in April. They've added a $5 volunteer administration fee, which is pretty messed up. A lot of the draws of that event are things that run on volunteer efforts. All things like that will accomplish is drive disengagement. (Technically I'm getting paid for what I'm doing, but not enough that it makes sense from a purely transactional perspective, but if I were signing up for grunt shifts I'd be pretty pissed about getting asked to pay for that.)

Artists can potentially live a long time and sometimes people come out of cold storage/temporal anomalies even farther out from there. Is it possible that Paramount is imagining a future where literally nothing earlier than four centuries ago ever entered the public domain?

The most obnoxious part about this is that the same data needs to be sent to another part of the government and to do that it's just a couple clicks in the accounting software and it goes off electronically without this stupid hand transcription of digital records step.

More tax crud. The state requires that I hand type all the stuff on everybody's W-2 into a web site that has awful fake windows made out of HTML where the state selector only works if you type at exactly the right speed.
