It's been a while since I retired from Chest Bot and it looks like nobody is challenging my top score (2600). Who will take the challenge and remove me from the top of the leaderboard?

I might have the other bottle of coffee beer tonight. It'll be interesting to see if it's changed in my fridge. I know that with some of these the coffee flavor gets stronger over time, but this one was already quite potent so I don't want to let that sit too long.

@scarly
*Hospital gets new patient information software* "Gee I wish the programmers had talked to some nurses and doctors instead of just other programmers"
*School gets new student assessment software* "Gee I wish the programmers had talked to some teachers and students instead of just other programmers"
*Construction company gets new materials tracking software* "Gee I wish the programmers had talked to some installers and estimators etc"

Just a trend I've noticed

non-programmers are an important part of open source projects. non-programmer contributions are valid and useful and not second tier or otherwise less valuable.

it's easy to say programmers are the only value-add when you're fortunate enough to have enough non-programmers that you can take them for granted.

if you take away the feature requests, translations, and general chatter - many OSS projects would have never been more than flawed, narrow use case tech demos.

Today I talked with my accountant, with one of my high school English teachers, and with someone who roasted over half a billion (yes, with a b) pounds of coffee last year. Not a bad day.

video games, patricide, poverty, guns

Suelle Malen (14f) from Atelier Lydie & Suelle doesn't have money for food but seems to have infinite ammo for her guns. It's amazing that she hasn't shot her father who keeps spending the food money on art supplies. (and what kind of parent gives their starving teen daughter not one but two guns anyway?)

How do you tell if a company really cares about your privacy?

They don't try to collect your private data in the first place.

us politics, angry vent

@Elizafox What's really disgusting here is that Congress and POTUS ARE still getting paid during this idiotic mess.

Grinding Atelier Rorona DX endings. I don't mind sitting through the credit roll once, but with over a dozen endings it'd be nice to be able to at least fast forward through that.

In 2018 I bought gas for my car exactly 12 times. I knew a full tank generally lasts about a month for me but I didn't think it was really that close.

@Gargron Generally any kind of media appearance requires some kind of waiver to cover how the person/company running that wants to use the material.

I think I've assembled all the documents the accountant needs for my personal taxes. It's less than last year.

More tax crud. In the year 2018 I managed to spend about $1200 more in connection with my work on Typica than money coming in to support that work. typica.us/

Lately the cat thinks I should wake up earlier in the day while also staying up later at night. She expresses this by poking me in the face while I'm trying to sleep.

Finished off the gift trail mix. It had too much excessively large dried fruit chunks (I'd replace that with smaller chunks and more banana chips), but otherwise it was pretty good.

i cannot help but read the package name "kdesu" as "k desu" instead of "kde su"

I've made a surprisingly large number of espresso con panna today.
