mastodon, hacker news
looking at the latest hn thread about mastodon and seeing at least a half-dozen people who are essentially saying: "i went on mastodon and the people on there were behaving in a kind and respectful way, and it was too stressful to make myself behave in a kind and respectful way too, so i left"
weirds me out so much when i read stuff like this. like gives me a massive huge "unknowability of the other" feeling
I think it's finished! Changed a couple of things from the sketch, which made it take longer. Happy with the end result though :) I sketch dragons all the time. Here's a painted one!
Protip:
When designing a user interface, imagine some old woman using it, say Margaret Hamilton, and she's clicking your app's buttons and saying to you, as old people do,
"Young whippersnapper, when I was your age, I sent 24 people to the ACTUAL MOON with my software in 4K of RAM and here I am clicking your button and it takes ten seconds to load a 50 megabyte video ad and then it crashes
I'm not even ANGRY with you, I'm just disappointed."
BTW, if anybody wants to contribute to the ongoing development of Typica (free software for coffee roasting companies), it's possible to do that any time at https://typica.us/payment.html
Planning to set up an instance so I tossed a little money at this. I apparently still remember enough from my high school French classes to read the confirmation email.
