If I download a big file in Firefox the notification in plasma spins up a full core to 100%. Not on the latest plasmashell. Hopefully whatever causes that is fixed. It does the same thing when trying to decide which WiFi to connect to. That's got to be the least efficient throbber ever written.

Probably the nicest feature here is the use of relaxed cubic splines for (inter|extra)polation. That's a much better model for coffee roasting (and a lot of other physical processes) than what other editors support.

While this code will eventually get merged in with Typica and will work with data generated by Typica, I'd like to also keep a certain level of functionality available as a separate program so that people who don't use Typica can benefit without a lot of bloat. Some of this is useful even for people who are still on paper logging and I'm open to supporting import/export for competing programs.

Today seems to be a good day for writing programs. I've been working on a new program for handling coffee roasting data: viewing, editing, creating roasting plans, comparing plans, making educational graphics, &c.

I've been using the pieces I have for graphics in my videos, but that way of working is not nice for people who have never written a computer program.

A recent example is the graphs in this video (7:59, 30:47): video.typica.us/videos/watch/d

The defective coffee roaster has been picked up and is now on its way back to the manufacturer so they can fix it. It arrived broken.

What's the worst thing about having the street in front of your house destroyed?

Some cats ask for belly rubs and then start chewing your hand when you provide the belly rubs. My cat asks for belly rubs and then happily accepts the belly rubs (and will probably ask for more if the belly rubs stop)

Lately I've been seeing an uptick in scam emails trying to pretend that their the admin on my servers threatening dire availability consequences if I don't fall for their phishing scheme. Of course since I am the admin and I know that I didn't send those messages to myself those just get deleted.

Probably not doing a June episode of Coffee and Code, but I'll try to have an episode in early July so it'll only be about a 1.5 month gap between episodes.

New video game arrived in the mail today. How new? The version that I got was supposed to release July 3.

There are two compartments on either side. The round ones on the right are for an extra jar and the doser while the rectangles on the left are for the power cord and a stack of business card sized sample cards. The case also has a pair of handles (one for carrying the case, one that retracts for rolling) and wheels. Pretty sure it's small enough to count as an airplane carry on bag since a lot of people who own these just bring it along on coffee buying trips.

Instructions say they don't need the accessories that came with the machine but I'm still going to send back the travel case since that's going to be more secure than any bubble wrap I have on hand.

admin, moderation

Yeah, if our first interaction involves you sending me an @ announcing your bigotry, your account is getting moderated to oblivion on this server.

Have the shipping label, &c. for the roaster that arrived in a non-functioning state. It should get picked up tomorrow.
