Some coffee that I was expecting to have in November ahead of the Christmas season might be showing up late next week or early the week after. It's unroasted and supposedly well packed so the delay shouldn't have much if any of a quality impact as long as I can still sell it all fast enough.

I will settle for another hot cup of coffee instead.

Someone left a couple of puzzles still in their shrink wrap in the community puzzle exchange. One of them features a naked lady on top of a giant cake with freaky frosting animals around the edge.

One nice bit is that while the old deserializer needed to be (or rather, was convenient to write as) a whole class, the new one is just a free function.

Finished up the first bit of coding that I wanted to do today. This is a rework of Typica's old code for deserializing saved data to work with a new data model. The new code is faster, safer, consumes less memory, and I'm hoping will make it easier to develop some new features that I've wanted for a while, though the next bit of code that I'll need to write to make this work are a bit more complicated. Should still be a net win once it's done, though.

It looks like search engines found this forum post I wrote about using the Ocean Hued Clam set on Qiqi in Genshin Impact and are ranking it highly in relevant searches. hoyolab.com/article/1610218

(at least I hope things aren't horribly broken now)

Sorry for any inconvenience during the update, though given that I'm the only person logged into this server in the past year I doubt anybody was inconvenienced at all.

Got social.typica.us ready for the impending security update. Was previously running 2.9.0 because the last time I tried to upgrade versions things broke and rather than spend the time figuring that out I rolled the changes back and figured I'd get around to it later. I guess it's later now, but this time things went relatively smoothly so whatever was broken last time around seems to have been fixed.

The cat has decided that it's fun to drag herself through her water dish.

Surprisingly few bugs in the last bit of code that I wrote so far. Testing out more of the functionality I found one missed case where a certain kind of data wouldn't be deserialized and a missed check to make sure an optional had a value before attempting to get it. Both issues are now fixed.

The coffee roaster has been cleaned, re-assembled, and is ready for the next roasting shift.

Also, I've roasted the last of my decaf Peru. That's no longer available through the web site, but locals can grab a bag from the shelf.

Had a small chaff fire in the roaster while cooling that off after the last batch of the day. Not sure what set it off. It looked bad enough from the outside that someone in the area called the fire department over, but I had it put out by the time they showed up. They stuck around while I verified that it hadn't spread into the exhaust and set up some big fans to help air the place out faster.

One of the checks in the deposit was from a business account that I have access to so I could go and print their scan of the back of the check with my very clear written instructions on it that the credit union failed to follow.

Had to go yell at the credit union. They put my last deposit in the wrong account and then tried to steal a bunch of money in fees that were a direct result of their mistake.

The cat likes to make sure that I can always pet a cat, just in case petting a cat is a thing that I want to do at any given moment.

Reminiscing with staff about restaurants that had better menus before they changed ownership.
