Making some progress on tutorial video editing today.

Today in urban wildlife I encountered a beatboxing squirrel. It was pretty good at first, but kept getting worse the longer I listened.

The cat does not approve of my new work schedule, but she doesn't get a vote on that.

In unrelated news, I may have started learning Kotlin.

If you don't get a reply to your cold email SEO pitch, it's because I'm not interested in getting that from you or any of the other dozens of people trying to make the same pitch. A passive aggressive follow up does not make it more likely that I'd pick you over the competition if I went insane and decided that SEO was something I wanted to pay for.

I'm doing the baking at the shop for the next few weeks because the 1st and 2nd people who normally do that work are both taking long delayed vacations.

Started roasting coffee (at least got through what was needed to fill the online orders) but needed to stop because people bought all the bakery and the stuff that was going to go out in the afternoon was not going to be enough so back to the kitchen.

Banana chocolate chip bread was resistant to baking all the way through, but it got there eventually.

(yes, I did just leave a store without the candy I had a taste for because they only had it stocked in fun size)

How are candy companies still getting away with calling something "fun size"? There's nothing fun about maximizing the unwrapping the candy to eating the candy ratio.

Just got a call from work to see if a customer request was possible. They wanted a receipt from when they were there over a week ago and they paid in cash. It's a coffee shop and one that actively avoids tech that lets the company act like a creepy stalker, so no, if someone wants a receipt they need to remember to take it.

At least what they're sending is almost the right thing (but just wrong enough to be completely useless to me), not like that time I ordered some resistors and ended up with a life time supply of USB cables instead.

The replacement product for an earlier mis-pick arrived and it's exactly the same wrong thing they sent before. I assume that the wrong thing is stocked in the bin and the pickers are told grab thing from bin and don't have time to actually look at the thing to verify that it's the right thing. Maybe they'll send someone to check the bin now that they've sent the same wrong thing twice?

Got an answering robot while trying to place an order, but part way toward its message it interrupted itself to say "goodbye" as a human picked up to take the order. I thought the goodbye was a nice touch, if somewhat confusing in the moment.

Today's mail included a catalog of mostly stuff you'd use for safely handling or cleaning up hazardous materials. I'd rather just not have hazmats here.

I had forgotten just how much I despise using IDEs, especially ones that try to cram everything into the same window.

There are also a couple new apps that I assume would be less obnoxious for me to just write what I want than trawl through an app store trying to find something that's not awful.

Turned developer options on in the new phone (most of the options are still set to off, but they're visible in settings now). Don't have the time to deal with it right now, but I should update some of my old code that somehow still handles my particular use cases better than the apps it came with.
