Landed safely in Seattle. Hotel room probably isn't ready yet but I can at least drop off luggage. Need coffee. I know a few places where I can probably get something tasty.

At ORD, TSA rules have apparently gotten more obnoxious since my last flight. Plus side, first class upgrade.

Reason to pick an airline and stick to it: today's flight to Seattle and the return cost $11.20.

Cat was talkative during the car ride except for the time when NPR had bird sounds in the background.

"It doesn't work" is a really low quality way to ask for help.

What's the observed behavior? What's the expected behavior? How can I reproduce it? Can it be captured in a screenshot? Is the problem captured in a log file? Include all that stuff.

Yes, it takes more time to put that kind of a report together, but doing that up front makes figuring out what you're talking about and resolving the problem go a lot faster.

Otherwise, expect a lot of "works for me" and "can't reproduce".

The optical drive no longer works, right click mostly doesn't work, key caps are worn down, case is banged up, and time from power on to usable is excruciating. Might be time to retire it.

The old Win7 machine that I keep around for doing Windows builds of Typica and updating PLUs in the cash registers no longer keeps time between boots. I wonder how accessible the battery is to fix that. OTOH, it's falling apart in other ways, too.

Last night I got outgoing email from this instance set up. That'll be important if I decide to let other people have accounts here. Strongly leaning toward sending invites to everybody who has supported Typica development financially over the past year or two.

This is Punk, the cat who broke into my house and decided to stay. She enjoys making noise, Hatsune Miku, and cuddles. Especially cuddles. There's no such thing as enough cuddles.

I'm part owner and roaster at a little coffee company in Wisconsin. Author of Typica, a popular free program used to capture and work with coffee roasting production records that's used at roasting companies all over the world. Volunteer on the Roasters Guild education committee. Available for paid coffee consulting, training, open source software development. Living with a cat who broke into my house and decided to stay. Likes: cute, travel, food. Dislikes: blinking lights.

What would Typica look like if it were built into the control panel of a coffee roaster? Probably quite a bit different both visually and architecturally, but I think it's a good idea to spend some time working in that direction and see where that goes.

Cat supplies acquired. Now I'm trying to eat dinner while the cat is trying to sit in my lap for cuddles.

Finalized the cat care arrangements for my next trip. Need to buy some more litter.

Emptied a bag of Brazilian #coffee. Opening another one to roast more.

Found a phone client that doesn't flip my photos upside down.

Considering opening this instance up to Typica supporters. Would Typica users be interested in having their own little social networking site?

As I get closer to trips, my meals increasingly look like this as I start running out of food at home. Flying out to Seattle for the Specialty Coffee Expo on Wednesday where I'm delivering a new class, "Roast Level Exploration and Profile Design" and helping out with a couple other roasting classes.
