Event is in Boston next year. Hope they've figured out how to get roasters approved this time around. Last time it was there we could only get approval for electric sample roasters, limiting the classes that could be offered. Then again, there are a lot of options now that didn't exist back then. The right instructor (not sure they exist) could do something interesting with that.

Have been informed that my badge is color coded so I can go where I need to without messing around with access wrist bands.

Coffee #2, cappuccino. Checked out the roasting area. Mostly not set up yet, but it's not supposed to be. Printouts for my class look good.

Found a nice coffee from Burundi and an apple thing. Received my first business card of this trip after a chat about how retreat is shaping up.

As expected, the room isn't ready but I did get an upgrade. Picked up badge. Next, coffee.

My sister has sent proof of life for the cat. Says she was talkative at 1:30am.

It looks like TSA stole my buisiness cards. I'll miss the case they were in. It was a gift.

Waiting for checked bag. Have already been recognized.

Landed safely in Seattle. Hotel room probably isn't ready yet but I can at least drop off luggage. Need coffee. I know a few places where I can probably get something tasty.

Pro tip: When buying #chocolate from a new place, always buy the darkest, most bitter one first and let those in your house taste it. Once they've been trained to cringe just by looking at the label, you're free to buy the tastier stuff from that place.

At ORD, TSA rules have apparently gotten more obnoxious since my last flight. Plus side, first class upgrade.

Reason to pick an airline and stick to it: today's flight to Seattle and the return cost $11.20.

Cat was talkative during the car ride except for the time when NPR had bird sounds in the background.

"It doesn't work" is a really low quality way to ask for help.

What's the observed behavior? What's the expected behavior? How can I reproduce it? Can it be captured in a screenshot? Is the problem captured in a log file? Include all that stuff.

Yes, it takes more time to put that kind of a report together, but doing that up front makes figuring out what you're talking about and resolving the problem go a lot faster.

Otherwise, expect a lot of "works for me" and "can't reproduce".

Old laptop hardware issues

The optical drive no longer works, right click mostly doesn't work, key caps are worn down, case is banged up, and time from power on to usable is excruciating. Might be time to retire it.

The old Win7 machine that I keep around for doing Windows builds of Typica and updating PLUs in the cash registers no longer keeps time between boots. I wonder how accessible the battery is to fix that. OTOH, it's falling apart in other ways, too.

🔲 Change water filters on coffee equipment
🔲 Update tea information
🔲 Move cat
🔲 Buy socks
🔲 Pack for trip

Last night I got outgoing email from this instance set up. That'll be important if I decide to let other people have accounts here. Strongly leaning toward sending invites to everybody who has supported Typica development financially over the past year or two.
