Today's weird how did I get on your list spam wants to sell me a used generator capable of powering approximately 750 homes.

Berkeley burrito-delivery bot purported to be using 'advanced neural network' is actually remotely piloted by Colombians, who are paid $2 per hour.

Welcome to capitalism, where tech startups fake 'genius' AI using hidden POC sweatshop labor in a 'black box' to rake in profits.

"AI, games, Amazon, it's all made with magic! In our magic black box!"
"What's in it?"
"Nevermind, just eat your kale salad and let's do yoga!"
*Open box, find a sweatshop*

Progress on a couple fronts:

1. I'm getting an IKAWA roaster. This is going to be helpful for developing some of the features I want to work on for Typica 1.10.

2. The class I'm teaching in August was booked to conflict for time on the roasters with another class so I got to have a conversation about what the options there are. Fortunately I designed my class to be highly adaptable and could offer 2 solutions to the problem and we picked one.

The cat likes when I pick her up and carry her around the house.

Thinking I might make a video about chai. Not today, but maybe a couple months from now.

I'm into the 3 month period where construction could make the street I'm on at home inaccessible/unusable. Others on the street don't seem to be taking notice, but I'm parking in a city lot the next block over so I don't try to go into work one day and find that I'm cut off.

Health inspector came around for their annual check. We're all good.

The last sample was also not up to the standards of what I'd like to serve.

A lot of people have been asking for drinks made with almond milk so I've been doing some taste testing. I've got one more sample to try, but so far none of the almond milks that I can buy locally perform well in the range of drinks I'd need to be able to produce if I brought that in as an offering. Please don't link me to your favorite almond milk. I know that appropriate things do exist, but I need something that's reliably stocked locally.

Congrats to Phyllis Johnson on her Maggie Award for best signed editorial (link to article below). I've had the pleasure of cupping coffee with Phyllis both in my shop and in Ethiopia and she's sold me some really nice Kenyan coffees over the years. She's been doing good work for a long time and it's good to see this recognition.

Added a video to yesterday's blog post. It's one from about 9 months ago in which I'm not doing any of the talking.

Apparently I need to paint my PS4 blue before I can play this.
