census form arrived in the mail today. looks like I got the short form.

all the chai concentrate made today got sold. we'll make more, please don't panic buy the chai.

A promotional poster for the coffee roasting competition I've entered arrived in the mail today. That was unexpected, but maybe I can use it if I have some leftover coffee to sell (or if I win more of the coffee in the competition).

Sent a proposal for my class still tentatively scheduled for April (but looking increasingly likely that it might be postponed) for a way that it could work with brewing instead of cupping. The roasting section gets, I hope, a little more fun. It cuts back on the amount of tasting a little bit, but allows more time for tasting and discussion while still meeting all the objectives for the class.

covid

North Central Roasting Summit is being postponed until May instead of taking place next week. The new date fits on my calendar and I'm close enough to local that the change in schedule isn't a hardship.

Someone lost their DMV receipt/temporary drivers license paper (usable as a license until the new one shows up in the mail). I was about to toss it thinking it was trash on the floor but then I noticed what it was. He's a regular so we can get that back to him or make sure he doesn't need it next time he's in.

I've been doing server side work getting roastingbook.coffee ready to start taking book orders. Sorry to anybody inconvenienced by the site being down while troubleshooting problems. I still have a little more work to do soon, but my hope is that the rest of this should go more smoothly.

gov't support of business during covid

I'm a small businessman. I welcome government support of my business. And I got needs.

-I need my customers to live.
-I need them to feel there is a future.
-I need them to be able to afford my books
-I need them to receive care while ill
-I need them to still have jobs when they recover from illness
-I need them to be able to afford my books when they recover, rather than drown in medical debt

Yes, government. Please support business.

Because if the pandemic the Berlin Philharmonic is not going to have an audience tonight, and instead will be streaming online live (for free)! The concert is at 8 pm Berlin time today with two repeat performances tomorrow (8pm) and Saturday (7pm).

8 pm on Berlin is 3 pm in the East Coast US.

According to this article I have the best independent coffee shop in Wisconsin. It's based on yelp reviews so I doubt the author has ever tasted my coffee, but that's still kind of neat to see.

While I'd rather not need to use it, kinda glad I got insurance on the April trip.
