Worked out a couple new coffee blends using the new coffee from Sulawesi. I'll probably need to do more blend reworks in the upcoming week when the Brazil switches over to the new lot.

On the early sips this time there's a broad range from cups 4 (very start of 2C) to 8 (out of 10 which is a bit beyond a French Roast) where I think a roaster could credibly choose any of those, but I do need to consider my existing customer base for that coffee and I also like to use it in blends in ways that will push my decision toward the darker side.

This time around the lighter side is less uninteresting than usual, especially in the aromatics and I'm getting some black pepper earlier in the progression than usual, though there's still that boost in hedonics out past 2nd crack.

This is a mark that I've carried for well over a decade now and it's pretty consistent in terms of what I get out of it. The way this usual works is that the light and medium roasts are fairly uninteresting, but around where shops in the 1990s would call it Vienna Roast the flavor really opens up with interesting spice notes and a bit of sweetness.

I'm likely to want to go with a dark roast on this, but I've got a few cups with light roasts, a few cups with medium roasts because the way I do things there's no down side to checking and you'll never find interesting roasts in places you never look.

Time to try the initial exploratory roast of the new coffee from Sulawesi.

I probably won't delay release of the next version to get the new feature in. I'll just finish up the feature that I've been working on, get that out the door, then start on the newly roadmapped feature.

Added another feature to the CRUCS roadmap. The UI details aren't fully worked out in my head yet.

Initial exploratory roast of the new coffee from Sulawesi is done and ready to taste tomorrow. Based on the initial fragrance I'm looking at probably something still quite dark but perhaps not as dark as the previous lot. The Brazil will need to wait until I've roasted the last of the previous lot. That'll be some time within the next couple weeks.

Got coffee from one of my suppliers (more Brazil and Sulawesi), ordered more coffee from another supplier (Costa Rica).

The cat is upset that I was late coming home from work today.

The new SSD for my laptop that I ordered weeks ago has finally shipped and is expected to arrive tomorrow. I tried to buy it locally first, but that didn't work out. This is one of those things that I knew I was going to want eventually when I bought this computer, but figured that by not getting it at the time of purchase, by the time I really needed it the available drives would be bigger, faster, and cheaper, and that does seem to have all turned out to be true.

The cat is busy trying to fall off the couch. She's also cutting off circulation to my foot so I think I'll move her some place safer.

I was looking at January production vs. last year January and Sulawesi had my largest percent gain among coffees we had comparable offerings in both time periods.

Looks like I'm also roasting the last of my Sulawesi coffee today. I'll try to buy more of that, but it'll be temporarily unavailable on the web site.

Had to send an email with a request to forward it to IT because their company's web form sends an email to them not from their own account, but spoofs the address of the person filling out the form which their mail server then rightly rejects for failing SPF policy, then mails the error back to the person they were impersonating.

I'm roasting the last batch of my limited edition coffee from Bali today. Anybody who wanted to try that should get in their orders now as I'll be taking it off the web site no later than tomorrow.
