The rules help keep the worst pols away and keep them from being too disruptive, though some of them attract very large crowds. This one has more equipment (lights, &c) than usual.

I was wondering why the WiFi got slow all of the sudden. There's a politician doing a video shoot so it's a bit of a circus at the shop right now. Approval to use the space does not constitute endorsement. I let all the politicians (unless they're literally nazis) do stuff here as long as they respect the rules (we stay open to the public, they need to be willing to talk to everybody, not just people who agree with them, when filming, get releases from everybody, that sort of thing)

Freight truck just dropped a skid of Bodum stuff in the alley. Mostly manual coffee brewing stuff.

Don't try to call/text me. I won't know you tried until evening.

Forgot my phone at home. The cat was trying to convince me to not leave the house and distracted me from picking that up.

Release notes draft for 1.9.1 keeps getting longer but I want to do some general web site updates before releasing that.

My rules for this release are that I'm not going to do anything that requires large scale changes across the code base, I'm not going to do anything that requires me to bother the people who translate the UI text to other languages, and I probably also don't want to do anything that affects the database, but otherwise if I can make things better I don't mind doing that.

Tracked down and fixed another bug. I should really refactor some of the stuff around roast plan loading.

PeerTube embed compared with YouTube embed.

PeerTube:
Circle play button.
Privacy information.
Rainbows.

YouTube:
Weird not quite a rectangle play button.
No privacy information.
No rainbows.

Also got the electronic version of the new issue of Roast. My interview isn't in there so I guess that'll probably run in the next issue in a couple months.

Coffee delivery arrived early enough in the day to interfere with breakfast. Having a cookie break to compensate.

Started switching video embeds on Typica's project site to use PeerTube videos instead of YouTube. It'll take a while to migrate the whole site over, but any individual change is trivial. typica.us/features/degree-of-r

I've been asked to stay on the working group that decides what the Specialty Coffee Association's training program for coffee roasters looks like. I've been involved with that for several years now and am, of course, glad to continue doing that work.

I think I might now have the most coffee videos of any instance. Want more on your instance? Subscribe to video.typica.us

Looks like the option to publish after transcoding does something sane in the new PeerTube beta. It does the initial transcode, mid-range resolution version, and then publishes before doing additional higher and lower resolution versions (so transcode ordering is also different). Glad to use that feature from now on instead of having to monitor what's going on (not a good option for non-admins, this would be extra frustrating if I were just a user) to avoid publishing something broken.

Some rando on YouTube took my most popular video, replayed about 10 minutes of the start after the end of the video, and uploaded it as his own, using the exact title of a different one of my videos. It has pretty much no views, but why would you do that?
