computer, glitch image

My desktop icons seem to have glitched.

Got Typica built on the new machine. The reports are sub-optimal on a HiDPI screen on Linux (not an issue with retina displays on Mac, no clue if there's an issue on Windows) but still readable. Might be a really easy fix. Will have to look into that later.

@pla I had indeed forgotten about that. I have some in both so a failure in either doesn't leave me completely cut off.

@schestowitz Most of the stuff that's being presented in that article as variations that make Linux support "hard" are things that, if you as a developer think you even need to care about that, you're probably doing something very wrong. A lot of that stuff can (should) be completely invisible at the application level if you're using the right interfaces.

on twitter you scream into the abyss
on mastodon we're all hanging out in the abyss, screaming, in a supportive and comradely fashion

Timespinner beta plays on the new computer. Time to fight catboss again.

The bulk grinders have just had a lot of maintenance done to them so it's time to bring in the refractometer and the sieve shaker for a better calibration on those. For today I did a rough calibration by sight and taste, but I can get a tighter calibration if I use technology.

With all the Touhou spinoffs getting localized lately I just have to wonder, Gensou Skydrift for PS4 when?

After entirely too long a delay I finally have an estimate on some repair work for the house. I can once again create a budget.

Now that I've got basic setup/confirming things work done, it's time to go through getting all my projects set up/software installed.

KDE Connect is already helping me look at the phone less now that I can use that again.

I didn't expect it would work (not advertised as Thunderbolt) but running external displays through through the HDMI ports on the USB C dongles doesn't work with the new computer. I will have to be satisfied with just the onboard HDMI and 2x DisplayPort which are all working.

Gave Pop a try because I haven't used it before but as expected, quickly ended up back on KDE Plasma.

I think I'll just run those out front and my staff can put those through the dishwasher.
