You know those bags of assorted cookies that come out during the holidays? The cookie factories need to do a variation that's all cylinders. The cylinder shaped cookies are the best tasting ones in the mix and there's never enough of them in the bag.

old guy tip: if you find yourself writing a long defense of the actions of another person, and you feel like you've reached a point in your writing where it makes sense to quote the "dictionary definition" of a particular word that is commonly used, that's a really good sign that you might want to pause and seriously reconsider whether the subject of your defense deserves your defense.

The local paper ran a thing about my father's passing on the front page today (continues on 4A). It was pretty good until the very end where there's a massive factual error, so to set the record straight, his memorial service will NOT be at the coffee shop.

@gnomon @mwlucas I doubt my experience with that is relevant here since I did about the minimum that keeps me legal for my use case in a very C-like C++ using libcurl to hit Stripe/Shippo endpoints and not otherwise integrating with a broader e-commerce platform because that was fun. The whole respecting customer privacy bit is a side effect of doing otherwise being more work so... just... don't write that code?
