Four new coffees checked, five blends reworked, and now I'm done. Need food.

I'm probably not getting the new coffees out for sale today, but hopefully tomorrow I'll have them on the shelves and up on the web site.

New Brazilian coffee brews properly. The past few years all the coffees I was getting from Brazil had really excessive bloom at a medium roast (not a problem with a dark or light roast or if the coffee had a week or two to stale) unless I adjusted brewer settings or did crazy stuff in the roasting to mitigate the problem. It'll be nice to not have to special case that one anymore. (I still have no idea what was going on that only affected Brazil like that)

Today I'm tasting production test batches of new coffees and adjusting blend recipes. Starting off with a super bright Kenya AB (light roast, fair trade certified). During product development I pretty much just kept pushing the roast faster to crank up the intensity. First crack is still popping in the cooling bin.

@taweret Time travel. Who do you think stopped the Eugenics wars?

As usual, I've sent them an invite to create an account on this server. Most people don't take me up on that offer and the ones who do tend to ignore it until they want to ask me a question.

Someone just sent $75 in support of my free software work. It's the first financial contribution since April. typica.us/

I've been asked to donate to a neighboring village's tree lighting with Santa thing but one of the things they're looking for is $200 of walking taco supplies and that seems like an odd requirement for such an event.

After all the coffee tasting today I deserve a pizza.

@codingquark Not between every cup, but I'll use room temperature water to rinse as needed. The other concern on a day like today when there are several flights to get through is it just gets to be too much coffee. Spitting is considered acceptable and a banana or scoop of vanilla ice cream after a couple flights helps.

Time to taste some coffee. Starting with these 16 different roast levels of a coffee from Kenya.

Supposedly it's random act of kindness day and instead of doing a random act of kindness, people are trying to delegate their act of kindness to others, or put another way, creating extra work that isn't anybody's job for others so they can feel good about themselves.

I think they're missing the point here.

Also, my alderman came through on getting me a replacement recycling bin for the one that vanished a couple weeks ago. I still missed today's pick up, but it's not like I generate so much waste at home that this is going to be a problem.

1 of 2 recent coffee orders has arrived. This one contains 4 coffees that I'll need to sort out how I want to roast those now and 1 that I need to roast through another 100 pounds of the previous lot before moving on to the new one.
