I've apparently become someone that newspaper reporters talk to in order to get quotes from people about topics they have not thought on deeply. I reject about half of those requests because I know I'd rather read informed opinion instead of what someone pulls out of their ass in 30 seconds.

Placed a 2nd order with one of my more recent suppliers. When first setting up the account I was told to send future orders to a different company that was their local rep, but they had zero communication with me so I put my contact at the company on cc and found out that the local rep no longer has anything to do with them.

A good salesperson can be valuable for a company, but these sorts of regional exclusive deals make no sense in the age of the Internet.

The unlock button on my car key fob no longer works. I can probably rip that apart and fix it again, but at this point it probably makes more sense to just switch to the mostly unused spare fob.

Another coffee roaster packaged a discussion we had earlier in the year for his newsletter. You can read that at: us6.campaign-archive.com/?u=d2 if you want.

After taking a couple years off from it, tonight I popped "MegaTagmension Blanc + Neptune VS Zombies" in the Vita and picked up the last skill based trophy I was missing. Now if I want the platinum it's all grinding.

There was snow when I looked outside this morning, but it's warm enough that nothing stuck to the sidewalk/driveway skirt. Will need to clear the porch/steps unless that melts before I get home.

That's going to go on the shelves later today as Holiday Blend. The thing I like about working on this blend each year is that I don't try to match a flavor profile that I've done previously (it's different every year) and I only need to worry about having enough coffee to sell it for a couple months. It's an opportunity to be creative and demonstrate what coffee blends can be when disconnected from normal business constraints.

That pre-blend I mentioned yesterday turned out exactly as I hoped it would now that the coffee has had time to de-gas. It's a combination of coffees from Kenya and Sumatra roasted darker than I normally take the Kenya and lighter than I normally take the Sumatra (keeping good notes from product development helps). The signature flavor characteristics of both of these coffees are present in the blend, but with a more balanced expression than the coffees display separately.

Tetris with dolphins in VR is how you know we're living in the future.

The dolphins that follow it are pretty good, too.

I like the moon camel stage in the new Tetris game.

The rules for what you can legally call ice cream should never have been changed to allow ice milk to be mis-labeled the way it is these days.

Last time I went grocery shopping I saw another brand of ice cream that lists "cream" first in the ingredients list. Trying their lemon bar flavor now. It's pretty good.

Jake Sisko has really good penmanship for someone who supposedly never used paper.

I'm thinking of going with 50% Kenya, 50% Sumatra, pre-blended and using a roasting plan quite different from either of the components. The press I'm drinking now tastes pretty good, but that's on approximately 0 rest so I want to taste how it does as drip tomorrow.

I'm usually in the blend after roasting camp but for the seasonal blend I'm working on now I think I need to switch to blend before roasting. Any time you're not using stock roasts it's worth looking in that direction to keep the logistics sane.

The cat didn't come to bed with me last night, which is unusual. Maybe she doesn't like the new sheets I put on? When I left for work today she was sitting on the heat vent in the kitchen (I turned the heat up because the bedroom was a little too cold) so it could be a warmth thing as well. She rarely wants to get under the blankets.

Looked at the report for how my city voted and it's kind of all over the place (not uncommon for Wisconsin), though apparently we can all agree that federal policy on pot is wrong. I've no personal interest in the stuff, but there's plenty of evidence that it shouldn't be schedule 1, that it's less harmful than lots of stuff that's legal for recreational use, and that the war on drugs has had a massively negative impact on society and needs to be rolled back.
