The cat continues to disapprove of me leaving the house.

Turned on a space heater to keep the kitchen pipes from freezing, but the heater is making noises that the cat must investigate.

Need to visit a grocery store after work. My food supply at home is down to ramen, cereal, and ice cream. The cat would probably appreciate a fresh supply of litter, too.

Troubleshooting with someone and "reverse the polarity" is a legit possibility.

My sister wanted a sign to use while sampling a coffee with not very much text that people can look at and feel like they learned something. As "not a graphic designer" and someone who prefers long form writing this is very much not playing to my strengths, but here's sign #1, made with the GNU Image Manipulation Program.

Health food is the worst thing to happen to food.

Need to talk with my sister (who owns the other 50% of the business) about having the shop reimburse for business travel.

Booked flight and hotel for the event in April. The hotels are all either too expensive or too far away.

Another Rorona DX glitch in the post-game. Somehow the back left enemy in Machina Domain first floor fell through the ground enough that it's impossible to start a battle. Moving to a lower area fixes things.

Someone dropped off a stack of free magazines at the shop and there's a page in it with local date night recommendations. I don't know what people do for dates anymore but the ideas on that page all seem like horrible ideas.

I got my big chance at work today.

We have a bunch of information screens at work, like 30-40 of them. All they do is basically run a slideshow of images with news and stuff like what's on sale in the canteen.

Boss said he was tired of paying like $100/year in licenses for each of the PCs running the screens. So he asked me to come up with a Linux proof of concept by next week.

Little does he know that it's already done and I'm going to show it to him tomorrow morning, not even 24 hours after he gave me the assignment.

I'm not just going to give him an info screen machine that works at least as well as the Windows 10 LTSB ones. I'm gonna give him one that requires fewer manhours to deploy as well because their Win 10 versions still need you to manually create an overnight reboot task, enable auto-login, disable the screen timeout, set an IP and some other small junk.

I have a kickstarter file and accompanying scripts for Ubuntu set up.

Put an Ubuntu Server Netboot USB stick into a machine (it's like 60MB), add "ks=https://example.com/ks.cfg" to the end of the grub entry. Hit enter, and watch it go.

Come back 30-60 mins later and there's a fully complete box. Chromium based slideshow, cron jobs, auto-updates, everything.

Someone asked if they could schedule some time to watch batches getting roasted and take away some screenshots. I countered with letting them get some hands on experience on the machines. People who don't work here normally aren't allowed to touch the machines, but I make exceptions for people who I know have some experience using commercial roasting equipment.

Whoever did the whiteboard for seasonal (except not really because they're available all year long) drinks drew little hearts with text (like the candies), and most of them are fine but there's one that says "fax me" (ugh). I assume these days the candies say "swipe right".

Did takeout Chinese for lunch. The fortune cookie was mis-cut so I have the bottom of one fortune and the top of a different one.

You up this week
a lingering question will be.

The cat is right. I should have just stayed home and played with the cat.
