New espresso machines have been delivered to the installer. Install scheduled for 10am tomorrow.

Bought a giant sandwich for lunch today. There's enough left over that it's also dinner.

(this is how I justify using very C like C++ for anything sitting behind a web server, I don't work on anything that justifies that from a performance perspective)

Choosing a programming language not because you think it's the best choice for the program you're working on, but because you already know how to do what you want in that language and just want to get the work done.

Machines went from being loaded on a trailer for delivery to not going out for delivery.

Are keys a fruit?

Installed libpq headers on another server because why would I static link locally and then just send the binaries over when I can ssh to the server and do my code/compile/deploy right there where the stuff is going to live?

In fact, I could probably get the place fully staffed with programmers, ballerinas, and retired teachers.

New staff member started today, more interviews are scheduled later in the week. I still think it's weird that so many people with programming experience are trying to get my barista jobs.

Tracking page updated. Machines are getting loaded on a truck! It's kind of late in the day. I don't believe that it's really going out for delivery today, but it would be nice if that happened.

It turns out that the reason I wasn't seeing anything on the tracking page for the new espresso machines is because someone transcribed the number wrong. The machines are currently in Chicago, getting delivered to an installer in Chicago. Estimated delivery date is the 18th, but hopefully they won't really just sit on that for 3 days and I can get the machines sooner. The first of the two was ordered 6/21 so I'm pretty disgusted by the delay that's already happened.

Also, here is a photo from last week of Nocturne gazing longingly at the tomato plant.

(He would later go on to not only chomp a leaf, but ingest a mouthful or two. And then he spent the next day feeling gross and hiding under the couch. I'd like to say he learned his lesson, but he did not—so now we have new rules about him being on the balcony.)

I'm all for freedom of speech. In fact I'm so much for freedom of speech that I purge assholes who troll and harass people they don't like so that people feel comfortable speaking freely here.

And by all means, if you're one of those assholes, please absolutely do drop into my DMs so I can boot you off the island. I've been doing this all day and I see no reason to stop now.

Freedom of speech!!!!
