If the former is an improvement, I can shave off a few bytes of memory use and remove a config option that becomes unnecessary.

Didn't think I'd get much coding time in today but I did open up a section of code that had one thing where I wanted to change what the expected behavior was and I expected there was also a proper bug. For the former I did a quick and dirty fix that I'll need to clean up after at some point but which will let me see if I like the new behavior better. For the latter, I found the error in my reasoning and corrected that. Still need to build and test on both of those.

Thankfully the tracking direct from the company that's actually doing the work (rather than the company that's handling the billing and payments) does not indicate a temporal anomaly and has a plausible estimated delivery date in the future.

Freight tracking on my most recent coffee order indicates that the coffee was picked up, started moving across the country, then traveled back in time to be delivered a couple months before I ordered it. This most certainly did not happen.

Confirmed that one of the fans on my sister's laptop is starting to fail and started the process of getting a replacement part. There are 2 fans in the cooling assembly and I've identified which one is starting to act up, but I'm assuming that what I'll end up replacing is the whole cooling assembly with both fans and the heat sink. At least that way there's only 1 part, not like the time I was sent the exact same wrong part 3 times before getting someone to pay a little more attention.

Bought another $10Kish of coffee, but I've got about $1K in tariff refund credit that'll get applied so that helps. YTD roasted coffee production is up close to 10% so I wish I were buying more.

Lately I've been getting more emails that include "I recently came across your profile on GitHub" where the message as a whole is either vague or nonsensical showing neither understanding of what I've put there nor appreciation of the fact that my budget for those projects has always been approximately $0. I assume all of these are scams (also it's been years since I last logged in or pushed updates there).

Tracked down, fixed, then simplified the fix for a bug that probably nobody else was going to encounter. The new code is in all cases more efficient so that's nice.

Computer feels weird with the flex from not having a battery under the palm rest.

My laptop will have to stay plugged in while using for a while. Removed the swollen battery and ordered a replacement since the rest of the computer is still fully adequate for my needs.

Email subject line, "Is your network ready for AI?" I'm thinking there's no way that isn't 100% a scam.

Roasting staff has now received trackball training. I thought that might be useful since when I asked the crew how they felt about trackballs before buying one I got "what's a trackball?" as a response.

I don't think any piece of spam will ever top the one that started something along the lines of, "I'm happy to know you are in the market for life size animatronic dinosaurs." Sometimes I wish I were.

I figured that with the constrained space something you don't have to move around might be better and since it'll be used from a standing position the ball seemed like a better ergonomic fit than a track pad.

Mouse on the computer at the production roaster started sending random scroll events so today I replaced that with a trackball and we'll see how that goes.

The crew putting in a driveway at a house across the street seems to have done a good and efficient job over there. Hopefully nobody comes along to mess things up before the concrete sets.

Finished up a little thing. Did a bit of waffling on the design of one of the parts but got something that's working. Wish I had waffles.
