The resource monitor in the task bar does not seem to constrain drawing to itself as can be seen when it rarely reports some ridiculously huge billions(?) of percent CPU utilization. This happens when the system is not particularly active and I would not be surprised if this were some kind of underflow bug. Whenever that happens it draws the number in red.
Plumber is here. The cat has run off to hide upstairs, which is probably the best thing for everybody right now. If she doesn't come out before I go back to work I'll have to go looking for her because sometimes she hides in places that she has a hard time getting out of. Normally she has the good sense to avoid those places, but that's not always the case when strangers are in the house.
freight -
Trying to find out what's happening with the coffee that's still not here. Unfortunately, there are no good freight companies anymore and sometimes you'll have a delivery window and the driver just doesn't feel like doing his job and skips some stops and there's never any communication to let people know so they can get on with their lives.
Hot water is not getting fixed today. Tomorrow morning was offered, but I've got a meeting and a coffee delivery scheduled for then already, so hopefully afternoon. At least I have cold water and if I was really desperate for at least small amounts of hot water I can make that on the stove. Not great for showers, though.
Calling the plumber's office was apparently a mistake. The person who answered there took my information, said she'd try to contact a plumber and call me back. That call back never happened.
What I should have done is call my sister who has the plumber's direct number. Once I called him, he immediately knew what I was talking about and could let me know when he'd be able to get over to fix it.
Waiting to find out when a plumber might be able to show up. I should try using my half broken shut off valve to isolate the water heater now that I wouldn't be getting sprayed with water while trying to turn that so the rest of the house could at least still have cold water. Otherwise I've already used my 1 toilet flush and I'd need to bring home water from somewhere else for the cat.
Played some Timespinner since I have pre-release access to that (not posting screenshots until after it's really out). Before I get too much farther I'm tempted to start over and explore the areas more completely. I feel a bit under-leveled (granted, most games with a leveling system I tend to clear massively under-leveled, relying on mastery instead of just grinding out a more powerful character).
I guess I'm not doing laundry tonight
Went into the basement to find that the hose coming out of the water heater sprung a couple tiny holes and were misting my basement for who knows how long. I tried to cut off water just to the heater, but the valve is high up and hard enough to turn that I ended up breaking off parts of the knob instead of closing the valve (commercial shutoffs are so much nicer than residential ones) so I gave the cat an early water refresh before closing the main. I'm wet.
