Also tasting some new lots of coffee. My first attempts at the latest lot from Costa Rica were good but not good enough. For the dark roast I decided that I needed to push that a little bit darker and my 2nd attempt was much better. For the medium roast I had the roast level right but needed to roast the coffee slower to improve body and balance. Again, 2nd attempt was right where I wanted it. There's also a new lot from Brazil that I want to taste while I write the label.
Typica (free software I wrote to make various parts of running a coffee roasting operation easier) makes that part of my job a lot easier because the inventory is tracked all the time and I just need to sanity check the report it spits out. It was a lot harder when I needed to dig through contracts and invoices and the results are more accurate than the estimates that I was making before.
OK so, I think maybe I've figured out why other women are scared to travel solo. They post things like "How do you get brave enough to get out there and meet new people and make new friends while traveling solo?"
LOL WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO MEET NEW FRIENDS. You're traveling SOLO. Be ALONE! Why would you travel solo just so you would have to put up with people somewhere else?!
Enough people were willing to work New Year's Day so my shop is doing its usual start of the year charity event for the 24th consecutive year. All drink sales on January 1 will be donated to Racine County Food Bank. Additional cash donations will also be accepted and there's also a food collection box (though really, all the grocery stores have these so there probably won't be much in that).
Sadly there doesn't seem to be any bonus for these perfect full combos I'm getting on the first plays as these unlock. #YakDeculture
