Also tasting some new lots of coffee. My first attempts at the latest lot from Costa Rica were good but not good enough. For the dark roast I decided that I needed to push that a little bit darker and my 2nd attempt was much better. For the medium roast I had the roast level right but needed to roast the coffee slower to improve body and balance. Again, 2nd attempt was right where I wanted it. There's also a new lot from Brazil that I want to taste while I write the label.

Typica (free software I wrote to make various parts of running a coffee roasting operation easier) makes that part of my job a lot easier because the inventory is tracked all the time and I just need to sanity check the report it spits out. It was a lot harder when I needed to dig through contracts and invoices and the results are more accurate than the estimates that I was making before.

OK so, I think maybe I've figured out why other women are scared to travel solo. They post things like "How do you get brave enough to get out there and meet new people and make new friends while traveling solo?"

LOL WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO MEET NEW FRIENDS. You're traveling SOLO. Be ALONE! Why would you travel solo just so you would have to put up with people somewhere else?!

Enough people were willing to work New Year's Day so my shop is doing its usual start of the year charity event for the 24th consecutive year. All drink sales on January 1 will be donated to Racine County Food Bank. Additional cash donations will also be accepted and there's also a food collection box (though really, all the grocery stores have these so there probably won't be much in that).

Non-removable batteries is a serious contender for the dumbest idea in electronics product design.

The cat tried the roll around looking cute trick to try to get me to stay home instead of going to work. I don't think she understands the connection between going to work and bringing home cat food.

For those who haven't played that, it's like Love Live but with transforming mecha. Sometimes the giant robots get to dance.

No clue how many more songs just unlocked since the last time I played this, but I'm giving up for tonight.

New songs have been unlocking for more than an hour now. I might give up before I get to the end of this.

For anybody else playing that who hasn't tried this yet, I got a lot better when I took some time to figure out what speed I read the charts at best and just set all the difficulties to use that speed. The easier difficulties run way too slow by default.

Sadly there doesn't seem to be any bonus for these perfect full combos I'm getting on the first plays as these unlock.

It's been a while since I played Uta Macross so it just keeps unlocking new songs.

Finally got around to opening my first of 2 bottles of the latest beer to include coffee that I roasted. It's pretty good.

The more vehemently a recipe claims to be "authentic" the worse it tastes. Good food doesn't need the appeal to authenticity.

Getting cat hugs. She greets me at the door every day after work.

tony stark putting the iron man armor on while the guy he was fighting just stands there and watches is *exactly* a magical girl transformation sequence

You'd think that any large scale engagement with the Borg would give Starfleet enough time to offload civilians BEFORE the battle, but I guess nobody cares about that.
