Current channel support code has been pushed to code.typica.us

There's more that I want to do before a version 1.10.0 release but in the unlikely event there's someone who both needs that feature and is cool with building from the updated .w files, that's a possibility now.

My sister made another mask for me. Now I can choose between topographic dinosaurs, monochromatic dots, or whatever I borrow from the supply of work masks. I think she's going to make a couple more for me now that she knows I prefer the type that's tied on behind the head instead of looping behind the ears.

2nd attempt works correctly. It was just 3 extra characters on 1 line of code.

First attempt at some code I wrote today didn't work, but once I figured out the mistake I'm mildly surprised that it didn't just outright crash the program.

Banks should really have a separate card activation line for business cards. They ask for the last 4 digits of your SSN, but what they really want is the last 4 digits of your FEIN.

The cat has informed me that she needed a hug. I have hugged the cat. She's much calmer now.

US Pol. Voting

If your state gives you a "mail in ballot" you can almost certainly go drop it off and either a drop box or a county office at a time of your choosing.

Mask up and go drop it off as soon as you can. Avoid any possible shenanigans.

Please repeat or boost this message so folks who haven't done this before understand.

Also early voting is your friend!!

Thanks.

It would also make it a lot easier to incorporate images and data from that into videos. I could do some fun stuff live streaming roasting sessions if I can get it working well.

I'm not promising anything (I don't know if anybody really wants to support this) but I've got the go ahead to see about maybe extracting the code from the auxiliary computer and turning it into a library that could get loaded by Typica (since such a library would be derived from unreleased code that's not mine, I wouldn't be releasing that library without coordination with the rights holder). That likely involves rewriting in C++ but it would save desk space and both a DA and AD conversion.

Roaster cam is expected to return Monday, though without all the planned modifications. I'll see how that looks when it returns and might end up doing a later hardware mod myself (hopefully with instructions). Software side things are good to go so I'll now have four data series graphed at my production roaster: bean temp, air temp, rate of change of bean temp, and degree of roast.

Today's shipping included boxes going to multiple people with names starting with the letters 'ROB'. All stuff that I roasted today.

Idea: timers on ovens and microwaves that start counting back up when they hit 0 so if you missed the ding you can tell if it was just by a little and things are probably fine or if it's by a lot and corrective action may be required.

No mention of the fediverse in there, but it does mention furryMUCK.

Look what I found cleaning out an old computer room, weighing in at 990 pages, the Internet Starter Kit. Complete guide to what's hot, what's not, where it is, and how to get it. Comes with TurboGopher - Tunnel through the resources of Gopherspace.

Being angry at your barista on Facebook over their employer going along with a municipal mask ordinance is not going to convince their boss to take on the risks associated with you choosing not to put on a mask (that the shop is happy to provide at no charge if you don't have one). PS, the competition has the same requirements and some of them won't give you a free mask. Good luck finding someone willing to sell you a coffee.

Okay, I'll finish refining this later. Now it's time to go home and make samosas.

Typica supports hardware that can run faster than that, but the AD converter on that particular piece of faster hardware is awful and mis-matched on other hardware so I'm using the extra samples to calculate a linear regression (since the value being measured is expected to be changing) and eventually throwing away the raw measurements used to compute that just to get something that's surprisingly usable out of the 3-4 significant bits per measurement.

Show thread

Setting the table view to show all measurements and the hardware to collect data at its fastest rate is fine. The data scrolls by too fast to use, but it's only 50 measurements per second and if that's problematic on even an old CPU clocked at over a few hundred MHz that would be a sign that something is seriously wrong. I wouldn't mind a little less RAM usage, though, not that this is a recommended configuration.

Current channels are now almost working in Typica. There are a few things where the behavior isn't quite exactly what I want, but it's basically usable.
